The word addiction comes up with fear, and no one want to get clings with it, so we need to understand when we get close to being addicted towards anything. It doesn't matter if you are addicted towards some bad habits there is still a way to get out of it. Let me tell you how, first of all you must have to enhanced your intellect, or prefrontal cortex because this brain region function your decision making, and help you to become yourself more resilient although addiction to something gives you temporary pleasure, and many of us we gets indulged in it, but in exchange we will have to face worst consequences later, and repeating same pattern even knowing it from inside that's wrong still we couldn't control it. Because we don't get experience about its consequences, and when we would have experienced the consequences. At that point there is no way to get out of it until you completely sabotaged yourself, but if you open your eyes today, and visualize the consequences of addiction then that fear will help you to overcome addiction, and you can always install your own antivirus which will filter out threat from your system by creating a habit of doing meditation daily, and it will also enhanced your intellect, and make you more reselient then intuitively you will start preventing those threat which would cause addiction.
